11 Beauty Uses For Coconut Oil
August 18, 2015
Did you know you can use coconut oil for beauty treatments? It has tons of benefits that treat skin and hair problems. Check out 11 different ways to use coconut oil from eye cream to frizz fighter:
1. Hair moisturizer
When coconut oil is heated to 76 degrees Fahrenheit it turns into a liquid. Just run hot water over the jar of product until it becomes a liquid (coconut oil is a solid, surprisingly). After shampooing your hair, apply a generous amount of the oil to wet strands and twist hair into a bun. After about 5 minutes, rinse your hair and the moisture will be locked in.
2. Body oil
Apply a quarter-sized amount to your warm skin after a shower. As a solid, coconut oil’s creamy texture makes it the perfect light moisturizer for dry skin.
3. Lip balm
Lip balm right in your own pantry! Just put some in an old contact case and you have lip balm on-the-go.
4. Cuticle softener
Put a dab of coconut oil on each of your cuticles and allow it to sink in. The coconut oil will not only hydrate your cuticles and make your hands look younger but also strengthen your nails.
5. Eye cream
Get rid of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles without spending a ton of money. Just rub a pinch between fingers to warm it up before putting it underneath your eyes.
6. Frizz fighter
Rub a pea size amount of coconut oil between your fingers and warm it up. Apply it to the bottom couple inches of your hair for all-day frizz protection. If you have thicker, more coarse hair, apply the coconut oil from the middle of your hair.
For those of you who don’t like spending a fortune on makeup, you have coconut oil to use for a highlighter! Just dab some liquefied coconut oil onto the tops of your cheekbones and just above your eyebrows.
8. Makeup remover
Put a dollop of warmed, liquefied coconut oil straight on to your skin and watch the makeup melt away! Rinse it with warm water. You can even make your own makeup remover wipes. Melt 1 teaspoon of coconut oil per round cotton pad in a microwave-safe container. Then, lay the cotton pads in an even layer and let them soak up the oil overnight. Store them in a container or plastic bag.
9. Shaving cream
Just warm the jar under warm water and smooth onto legs before shaving. Your razor will glide smoothly, allowing for a super-close shave, and your legs will be moisturized from the oil in the process.
10. Acne treatment
Wash your face with coconut oil a couple times a week and you can say goodbye to breakouts.
11. Grow hair
Message a tablespoon of liquefied coconut oil onto your scalp. The nutrients will not only fight against dry scalp but also help stimulate hair growth.
