Seems like just about every major company today is utilizing all the bells and whistles the Internet can provide as a way to tap into the young, tech-savvy potential customer. Nordstrom, however, is instilling a certain sense of retro hippness into their flashy new multimedia site in attempt to create the ultimate fusion of fashion, pop culture, and, of course, advertising and merchandising. As someone who is entirely prone to spending the afternoon trolling the web for amusing distractions from responsibility, I am intrigued by the site’s premiere which promises a video featuring The Go-Gos playing an old hit while glamorous models strut the catwalk inNordstrom
fashion. Of course, if one of these comely waifs just so happens to be carrying a bag that you would gladly die for, all you would need to do is click a link and you will be quickly redirected back to Nordstrom.com
for all of your shopping needs. Considering how tedious online shopping can be, this site could be the perfect balance of product and pop culture. On the other hand, this mixture of kitsch and glamour could be just like watching a bad VH1 show right on your computer screen. Find more about Silverscreen at internetretailer.com
