Beauty Finds: Concealers
The real reason I refuse to audition for the next season of Survivor is that there’s no way I’m living a month without my concealer. I can’t recall the last time I left the house without it. Between my adult acne, undereye circles and seborrhea, my skin needs help. It isn’t bad enough to completely cover with foundation every day, so I need a concealer that matches my deep golden olive tone for spot coverage. I also need a heavy duty product that covers WELL, doesn’t crease or get cakey and stands up to oily skin after an eight hour day. Apparently, this is asking way too much. It is the world’s most difficult combination to find because I’ve tried at least 10 concealers to date. Here are three of them:
*Stila I tried the Perfecting Concealer, the Cover Up Stick
, the Stila Perfecting Foundation
and the Illuminating Powder Foundation 70 Watts
. Phew! After that marathon session, I STILL didn’t find something I liked. All were too pinky and didn’t cover opaquely enough for me. But the line does offer several different shades so there may be one for you, especially if you have fair or rosy undertones.
*Shiseido Nothing was dark enough or olive enough- the concealer turned orangey on me. Again, not for golden girls. But the texture is creamy and high quality in keeping with Shiseido’s reputation.

*Laura Mercier A number of beautyphiles swear by LM’s Secret Concealer and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage SC-1
. I tried SC-5 and SC-6, but, again, this product was too orangey/peachy for me.
Until I find THE one, I’ll continue to chronicle my experiences here. Stay tuned. In the meantime, I’ll be at Sephora.com.
