Just In: Juicy’s Faux Pas?

What: Juicy Couture’s luxe collection

image

Why: Why is a good question. Juicy’s simplest tracksuits cost about $160. That’s a lot for loungewear/workout clothes. Then again, they are pretty cute. So maybe it’s worth it. But now Juicy has come out with Couture Couture, a new high-end line. The price of its embroidered hoodie + pants? $875. What kind of embroidery is this?? And who—besides Paris, Jessica, Nicole, etc.—would buy such a thing when you can’t even wear it to work or on a night out? Sure, there’s some cute stuff, like the lace tee ($375) and Jeweled-Underskirt Dress ($995), but I agree with what Closet Therapy says: Everything’s just way overpriced considering the so-so style. Not to mention, the Shimmer Suit ($1,146) borders on disaster. Since when did haute couture look like something you could snag at Anthropologie?
