Store Review: Cosmetics Swapmeet

Makeup Alley is one of the reasons why I love the web. Its primary benefit is as a place (called Productville) to get brutally honest reviews of beauty products in every category. But it’s not your typical forum where you can kvetch about anything and everything. Truth be told, it’s not a store per se either. But that doesn’t mean you can’t obtain product there; you just can’t purchase it. There’s no news, no internal sale ads, no Hollywood gossip, just the skinny on all kinds of cosmetics before you plunk down loads of money. Does that $300 jar of SK-II really work? Will Dermablend cover my tattoo? MA’s second function, and this is the icing, as a makeup swapmeet is a great find. Although selling is forbidden, it’s otherwise similar to Ebay, in that you can exchange unwanted items for products you want, and once the swap is complete you can rate each other to alert members to not-so-trustworthy buyers/sellers – or great ones. Find the upscale makeup flea market at makeupalley.com.

MSRP for Dermablend (Facial) Cover Crème is $27.50…or you can swap for it on makeupalley.com
