Trend Alert: Brokeback Autumn
Show: The Frye Company’s Fall 2006 Preview
Where: Helen Mills Theatre, Flatiron district
Goodies: Free cocktails and finger foods, kitchy photo booth
Shefinds Respect: Although I didn’t spot any celebs, I felt like a celeb. Once the reps got wind of the fact that I was a SheFinds blogger, they were all over me like a fat kid on cake. It was a prime opportunity to sneak peek fall trends.
Thoughts: Hold onto your cowboy boots, because the Western obsession has only just begun. If The Frye Company, the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the US, has anything to say about it, the look will be gay cowboy meets saloon temptress. Both the bags and boots were embellished with brass buckles, knobs, and studs. Some leather boots were embossed with “Ol’ West” patterns, while others had sexy laces up the front and side. It’s clear that oversized bags are here to stay, or at least until ’07. The Frye bags were big, brassy and drool-worthy. Stand-outs included the Veronica, the Bella-Lo Lace-Up, and the Western Hobo. These items, along with entire Autumn 2006 collection, will be available by July or August at FryeBoots.com.
If you’re hankering for quality Western leather and you can’t hold out until fall, try a cute pair of Frye platforms like the Whitney Slingback or the Hazel Ankle Strap.
