French Friday: Rock Royalty

Sofia Coppola’s new film Marie Antoinette is a tribute to the style queen best known for saying “Let them eat cake.” (So what if they now contribute the famous quote to some other royal dead person.) Coppola sets the scene to an 80’s soundtrack which is quite apropos given the current 80’s revival in fashion and music. Also, the conspicuous consumption of the 80’s runs parallel to the oppressive opulence of the French Revolution period.
