What: Mint and Tulip Designer Jewelry
Why: Jewelry shopping is not exactly my forte. In the bright, unforgiving light of day, far from the happy glow of my computer screen or the dusty light of my favorite vintage store, my penchant for oversized pieces tends to look more tragic than trendy. The chandelier earrings and multi-strand necklaces that are just perfect when I first see them do not translate well into my everyday wardrobe, leaving me with an extensive collection of “costume†jewelry that I love, but never wear.
The obvious solution is to stick with basic jewelry that goes with everything. But how boring is that? My recent discovery of Mint and Tulip has allowed me to indulge my slight flair for drama with pieces that I can actually wear with my jeans and tee shirts without looking ridiculous or being accused of robbing a prop closet. I’m currently obsessed with these flower filigree earrings ($40) available in sterling silver and gold plate (I have both). And somehow, though I’ve never been into butterflies or watches, this surprisingly subtle, delicate watch ($75) has worked its way into my weekly rotation.
Since I’ve started wearing Mint and Tulip designs, not only do I get to wear the fun, funky jewelry I love, but not a single person has asked me what play I’m in.
