It’s the killer of a thousand gorgeous dreams — your eyes say, “Yes, yes!” but there’s “No, no,” ringing loud and clear in your wallet.
That’s how I felt when I clapped eyes on this Catherine Michiels Gold Lotus Pendant. The bright silk ribbon, the delicately rendered pendants — I was suckered in. (I’m not the only one — InStyle fell hard for them after seeing them on Sharon Stone.)
The bad news? This gorgeous bauble clocks in at about $855. You can already hear my wallet screaming.
Luckily, it looks like Catherine is one of those beloved designers who understands that something can be just as beautiful in sterling silver, and that for a poor fashionista like me, $95 is a much nicer price for my perfect summer necklace.

Suckered in? There are three gold baubles not one and the price of gold is through the roof these days. I’ll go for the gold every time, especially since the price of gold will probably double again!
Great review! Since my friends are artists I make sure that they don’t have to save up for months or years before they can afford my pieces. I believe I am one of the few fine custom jewelry designers to offer most of my designs in platinum, gold, silver and bronze. Bronze is a great alternative to gold when you have a smaller budget. Many of my customers consider my gold pieces as investments and heirlooms for their children.
Check out Catherine’s new pieces, including the fig charms and Assam pendant, and the newest colors of washed silks, just received. If you want to special order any of the gold charms in bronze, just let us know. Joanne, Ylang23.com
