It is with regret that we announce the resurrection of the beehive. Thanks in part to Amy Winehouse and countless wedding day hairstylists who insist on styling brides with the elevated 'do, it looks like the beehive is enjoying a bit of a comeback.
Now if you're anything like me, you're probably laughing to yourself as you read this thinking she can't be serious. Oh, but I am. Time to whip out your hairspray and teaser combs ladies!
Ok not exactly. The silver lining in this unfortunate piece of beauty news is that the beehive has been updated a bit so it's a little fresher. Amy Winehouse aside, the new beehives are a lot sleeker and require a lot less product than they once did. They also don't even come close to the heights they reached in the 60s (again, Amy Winehouse aside).
So if you came up in the wrong decade and always wanted to wear a beehive, now's the time. How to achieve the look? Here's what you'll need: a comb, human or synthetic hair, a hairnet, pins, shine serum and hairspray (for added security).
1. Start by teasing the human/synthetic hair to give it volume.
2. Next, assemble your hairpiece, or "furball" as celebrity hairstylist Alex Foden calls it. Depending on how high and wide you want your beehive, fill the hairnet with the teased human/synthetic hair.
3. Back comb the section of your hair you want to be elevated.
4. Place the furball on the desired part of your head then comb hair over the furball to cover it. Secure hair with pins.
5. Spray hair with hairspray for extra hold and apply shine serum to tame flyaways and give a hint of gloss.
So now that you've had your instructional, will you be sporting a beehive?
PS: If you don't want to spend the money on additional hair when creating this look, I've also heard that socks are a suitable replacement. Clean ones, of course, that match your hair color.

As a working stylist I can tell you that some people have NEVER stopped wearing the obnoxious Bee Hive…….I’ve always been happy to announce that they don’t sit in MY chair!!! However, it looks as though in the future, I may not be so lucky! :o)
