Dress For Success, Hills-Style

image

Yes, I admit I have a full-blown Hills obsession. I'm sure plenty of the drama is scripted, but that doesn't stop me from tuning in each week to see what happens next.

But am I the only one who thought Lauren went a little overboard for her trip to New York? Whitney took the heat for her style at the meeting, but I Lauren's dress bothered me more. The girl knows fashion, of course–she recently released her own line. And I do love her dress, the Black Halo Jackie O ($305), which has been seen on plenty of celebs around Hollywood and beyond. Yet the style seems a bit sexy for an intern's trip to the office. (And don't get me started on running a casting in those shoes!) LC wore the frock in a more sedate grey versus the va-va-voom black pictured here, but I still say the super fitted style, low neck, and slit skirt seem better suited for a cocktail party than a meeting.

What do you think? Is this a Monday morning or Saturday night dress?

I think it depends on what your job is. If you’re a professional, definitely not. I’m a lawyer, and I would get a a serious talking to if I wore that to work, but if you have a creative job, it would probably be okay. I’ve never seen the Hills, and have no idea who this Lauren girl is, but I’m guessing she wore it to a creative-type workplace. Besides, it’s probably not a real internship, but staged for the show, so it doesn’t matter anyway.

I thought it was fine for what she thought she would be doing that day; it was MUCH more appropriate than Whitney’s strapless party dress in the grand scheme of things. I couldn’t even believe she wore that into an office setting.

I agree–Whitney’s dress was a bizarre choice. I didn’t like it at all. But Lauren’s dress I did like, I just wasn’t sure she wore it to the right place. I wonder what Marc thought of her get-up? Maybe she should have borrowed something from his line!
