Fitness Week Feature Find: Cloudveil running gear

Why: After a training for a marathon all summer in the sweltering D.C. heat, I was looking forward to cooler fall and winter running. But the chilly fall temps were leaving me a bit blue (as in borderline frostbite), so it was time to heat up my workout with some winter-ready workout gear. Cloudveil, which specializes in mountain apparel, makes a line of stretchy Polartec fleece base layers that double as cozy running togs.

The Run Don’t Walk Tights snug, tapered fit is surprisingly flattering (in the way you never thought skinny jeans could be). The wind-blocking fabric kept my booty warm during a frosty Thanksgiving morning 5K, and theres a zippered front pocket for your keys or ID. The Run Don’t Walk Tank is a form-fitting base layer that keeps your core warm under long sleeved tees or jackets in winter weather. So now that I can no longer complain about the cold, it’s time to get back out there, even if fleece running gear makes for delightfully comfy loungewear…

Price: tights, $85; tank, $60
