The Topic: The country’s unhealthy breast obsession.
The Debate: I’m not sure where to begin this rant; whether it’s with the men who are obsessed with breasts or the way society has made women so self-conscious about their looks that they are willing to sell their souls for a pair of free boobs.
Yes, you heard right — free boob jobs. The whole thing started at a Las Vegas bachelor party (what a surprise) when a bunch of guys were “admiring” a woman’s new implants. The well-endowed woman’s girlfriend chimed in saying that she wanted them, too, but couldn’t afford the surgery. That’s where the bidding began and MyFreeImplants.com was born. The idea behind the social networking Web site is that flat girls looking for enhancement can finally feel better about themselves and the “benefactors” who supply them with the cash to get their operations get to “interact” with them via email, chat and photos. In some states they might call this prostitution, but hey, when it comes to the betterment of society, these minute technical details shouldn’t get in the way. Right?
The Verdict: Of course, guys everywhere think this is a great idea. I’m not one to say what a woman can or can’t do with her body, but something about this just seems so very wrong — and this is coming from someone who was teased profusely for being flat all throughout high school. Do I go and get surgery? No. I learn to love myself and my body, and only surround myself with those who give me the same respect.
Is this concept horrendous or helpful? Are men sinking to a new low, have women lost all sense of pride and decency, or is MyFreeImplants.com doing “a service to the country?”

Umm, really? Being a guy, I’m just as horrified by this as many of you ladies are, if not more so…
First, I don’t want my 2 daughters growing up in a world where they feel as their value as a person has anything to do with the size of their chest.
Also, I think that fake boobs are simply repugnant; I get no pleasure from looking at them, and I certainly have no desire to get any closer to touch or otherwise appreciate them…
If women want implants because they think it will make them MORE desire among men, I have news for you:
- implants actually make you LESS desirable among some men; I know many other guys who feel exactly the same way I do
- the men you will be attracting will be exactly the WRONG kinds of men, unles your goal is to attract ones that are primarily interested in your boobs instead of the rest of your qualities
So please stop presuming that “guys everywhere think this is a great idea”…

Respectful gentleman do exist, but it’s not you guys who are the problem. The “wrong types of guys” promoting this sick Web site are not just the ones ogling the pages of FHM or visiting Scores. They are seemingly respectable, but still they objectify women, and these men abound posing a dangerous problem for women with self-esteem issues.
I must be odd compared to my friends, but I’m more attracted to women with OEM brests, and if anything, breast reduction surgery for those lasses that were over-endowed with the chest they were given.

You hit the nail on the head as to the problem: women who lack self-esteem & look outside themselves to define their value & men who have more money than good taste.
It’s NOT how these women feel about themselves (as I’ve heard argued), but how they ANTICIPATE OTHERS will regard them, once “augmented”…
Alone on a desert island, would these women be saying, “WOW, I REALLY LOVE myself, thanks to these granite grapefruit halves strapped to my chest!”? Somehow, I doubt it.
What is the root cause of low self-esteem in these women? Or bad taste in the men who DO appreciate silicone?
#1 culprit is MEDIA, specifically advertising (having worked in it for years), as well as magazines, Web sites, billboards, movies, TV; everything that teaches kids our cultural standard of beauty from an early age.
And once they begin to spend more time with their peers than their parents, those peers can either contribute to or counteract that self-esteem problem…
So until my 2 daughters have been taught to view themselves and others through that lens of cultural beauty, I have a fighting chance to save their self-esteem.

After breastfeeding 2 kids I can say that I am not against implants whatsoever, but this idea creeps me out. I understand that there are women out there who get implants for the wrong reasons, but when you are 22 years old and your A cup boobies hang like sandbags, you think twice about the procedure.
I was cursed with a 32DD chest at age 19. These women that pay good money for my back problems make me sick. Not to mention the fact that it is virtually impossible to find bras. Before getting implants go ask someone who was cursed with a big chest about what she goes through. If you still want them when you hear her side you’re an idiot. Nothing is fun about getting ogled all the time.
I would never want implants that large. I would certainly be happy with a C cup which is what I had before I had my kids. Is it wrong to want to look like a woman?

But women come in all shapes and sizes and if we can’t love ourselves and our differences first — as women — then we can expect men to appreciate our differences. Frankly I am sick and tired of the cookie cutter look and, let’s face it, men will leer at a very unattractive person if she has gigantic breasts. Do any of us really need a man who is mesmerized by something as inane as breasts?
It is completely true, boobs are pretty much the first thing a man sees. I would agree also that we do not need men that are only there for our boobs, but I’m married so I got mine while I was all me.

This concept is horrifying. I’m sorry, I just don’t understand implants. My sisters and I are 3 completely different shapes, and yes – I was the one who got the large breasts. As Gabby states above, they aren’t the best thing ever. There are as many issues with having a large chest as with having a small one. I don’t think you are more womanly, or less so depending on your cup size.

Well, I can imagine ridiculously large implants may be strange/gross. But I am a 5′8″ 22 year old and I am still completly flat chested. I have to shop in the little girls section for bras, because even the A’s in the woman’s department are too much for me.
Try that for annoying. I would at least like to fit into a decent size bra. Heck, I’d be happy if I were a full A. I dont think that is so discusting is it?
I have 32A/B chest. I hate looking for bras because the bras are either too big or too small. If you are unhappy with you chest size, push-ups never hurt. they are cheaper and amazingly less painful than breast implants. My ex-boyfriend loved my small chest. His now girlfriend has 38Ds and he says he hates them. I guess it’s no longer “the bigger, the better”.
After losing 200 pounds, I had a breast reduction but too much was removed. I consider implants about once every 4 months. Not because I want huge ones but because I feel my shape is very disproportionate now.
If I ever get them, I’ll pay for them, they will be pretty small, and I’m never telling a soul. It’s for me, nobody else.

Huh? But having small or tiny breasts IS just as NORMAL as everyone else. I had very small breasts as a teen but fought through it and found someone who loves me for who I am. After 19 years & 2 kids, my breasts are a tad larger, a bit saggier, but STILL NORMAL. They don’t define me and they don’t determine what kind of life I choose for myself.

Oh, and be ready and willing to pay for AT LEAST one more surgery (implants don’t last forever), maybe more, within your lifetime.
Also, be sure to make a lot of money (or marry a rich guy you attracted w/your boobs), just in case you do need to pay for additional surgeries, and there’s always food, college, cars, a house, charities, college tuition for kids (if you choose to have any), all that not-so-important stuff.
im 16 and im still stuggling to fit into a size 34A. im quite pretty and have a nice figure but i hate my breasts and they make me so insecure. i wont even get my boobs out for my boyfriend. about 70% of the time im worrying about my chest and everytime i c another girl i look at their breasts and wish mine were atleast able to fit into an A cup.

I am a mother of two anr i no longer have the breast i once had. i do not see anything wrong with having this procedure especially when it is only to put your body back the way it was. I have wanted this procedure done for years now but in putting my children before me have not had the money. i think its great that other people will help women become what they want to be.
