I am scheduled for the brazilian treatment- but now I am probably going to cancel. The formaldehyde is just not worth it. Is there a treatment that just uses the keratin & not fomaldehyde- maybe lasts less but doesn't have the carcinogens......does anyone know of such a product/treatment? Thanks

Lots of cheap shampoos have formaldehyde in them, it has been used for ages in hair products, Palmolive Sunsilk contains it...

And I'm not just talking about wearing straight hair. When I do my hair curly I can't just walk out of the shower either. Oooo nO! It takes special products indeed, and lots of time carefully diffusing and then defining. Then the same problem with humidity, you might leave the house with nice curls and get to work with frizz. The chemicals in all the straightening balms and hair sprays to curl is not good for you either.

Then get to work and have people hint that you should work harder to look more polished. I spend more time trying to look "polished" than any straight haired person in the office! I have ALL the tools and potions. CHI flat iron, SEDU flat iron and about 3 other ones that don't work quit as good. Special shampoos and conditioners. Special hair polish to "tame frizzies". ETC! And it all takes about 1 to 2 hours to wash dry and iron, depending on how perfect you make it with the flat iron.

I think you are right... that you don't understand at all. You underestimate the time it takes to look even half presentable in the morning. You may look boring if you do nothing to your hair. But I look scary if I do nothing. Absolutely like I stuck my finger in a plug-in. Now you tell me what's more presentable at work? Try waking up at 4 am so you can do your hair before work EVERY day then the hour commute in a humid bus that completely nullifies the hard work you spent.
