Runway Recap: I Would Never, Ever Wear That

Ladies, welcome to the first SheFinds Runway Recap. Each week, SheFinds reader Casey will pull together her team of passionate, selective, and ever-so-slightly catty judges and report their picks for best and worst designs. Agree with them? Disagree? Let it all out in the comments and votes we'll be running. Now let's start critiquing…

The initial episode of Project Runway was, as it is every year, dizzying! It's nearly impossible to keep track of who's who and who's done what. But it's not impossible to keep track of who was robbed this week and that there was some serious crap on that runway.

There was an audible gasp when the 1st set of contestants were sent backstage as we all thought Jack's work was the strongest.  We love love loved the daring yet preppy floral number he sent down the catwalk.  We also were fans of Chris' aubergine formal gown, another also-ran.

The worst?  A tough call… certainly Christian's 1970s living room frock was confounding (is Nina on crack?), Marion's doily/dominatrix lacey cocktail dress was a mystery.  Sweet P's potato sack dress appeared as though there were actually potatoes in it — which might well be cooked using the tin foil flower used as an accent on Victorya's creation. Elisa's mermaid-trailing-seaweed gown was best left at the bottom of the sea.  While we did not *enjoy* Simone's odd beach cover-up, it did not receive a consensus vote for worst of the evening.

I hated Elisa’s gown, but I hope she sticks around for a while. She’s so strange it’ll definitely make for good tv. How much do you think that plays into who the judges boot? My guess is quite a bit…

Perhaps I’m being a snob, but i pretty much hated every piece that walked down the runway last night. they all looked tacky, cheap, and uncreative. i’m hoping the designers were just nervous…. or high.

I really liked the babydoll dress by the lingerie designer. I forget his name, Ricky maybe. The judges thought it was boring, but i loved it. The lace detail on the top was great. I thought the dress with all the draping was good until I saw it on the model. I thought it made her look fat. Which she isn’t.
I like Elisa too. It seems she may have a little trouble deciding what is cool and still wearable, not for puppets.
