Top Five Everyday Lip Balms

I must have around 20 lip glosses floating around in my purses and cosmetics cases, yet still, I always return to a few of my tried-and-true favorites. These are the ones that don’t have color or anything fancy to them, except that they can heal a wicked case of chapped lips and look beautiful on a bare face during summer when makeup should be kept to a minimum.

C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Lip Balm: The name says it all. Enriched with sweet almond oil and shea butter, this is a treat for thirsty lips any time of the day. For people into color, tinted varieties are available, as well as a breath-freshening minty version.

Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1: Clear, simple, moisture on the go when you need it most. It has a petroleum base (Vaseline haters, you will not like this, I guarantee it) and includes an SPF 4 sunscreen. The only qualm is the lack of a slanted applicator. Kiehl’s: what were you thinking?

Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment: Not sticky, but glossy and smooth with just enough power to soothe and rehydrate dry lips. FYI, this also comes in a nice tinted variety for gals who love a bit of color.

Carmex Lip Balm, Mint Flavored SPF 30
: The classic variety is cheap and works well, but sticking your finger into the pot is always a little on the gross side. In stick variety, however, Carmex is a number one favorite for all complete with a minty fresh flavor and SPF 30.

Rosebud strawberry balm is my favorite, with Burt’s Bees original in close second. I’ve had the same tin of Rosebud for 3 years, and it’s still going strong. A great $5 investment.

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lipbalm is essential for me. It is one of two products I’ve used EVERY day for the past year.
