Top Five Fall Trends from the Runway
We've practically talked wide leg pants to death in relation to Fall '07 Fashion, but what about the rest? Oh, yes, dear readers, there is much more to be had. Here are some more cool trends for cold weather that you should be gearing up to embrace if you want to be at the height of style this fall.
Chunky Oversize Sweaters: Strike a balance between draping knits and chunky, shrunken numbers with this Theory Juliet Oversized Sweater ($495 @ shopbop.com) with a cozy turtleneck and casual dolman sleeves. For the look on the (somewhat) cheap, conside this slouchy Maria Bonita Extra V Neck Flag Sweater
($186 @ shopbop.com) instead.
Toasty Hats: Brimmed, knit, beret or otherwise, hats are a big hit for this fall. One of our favorites is this Octagonal Slouch Cap ($44 @ FreePeople.com). It's cute, casual and nicely priced. For when you have to look polished, however, this Kokin Orchiila Beret ($125 @ Bloomingdales) is a better choice.
Feathers: Fashion takes flight this fall with creations adorned in feathers — or at least a similar looking alternative. This Nina Ricci Alpaca Poncho is a very "with it" look if you can afford the $1215 price tag. At least you know the alpaca is luxurious. For something equally runway worthy, but slightly more affordable, check out this Alice + Olivia Feather Jackie Jacket
($330 @ shopbop.com).
Clashing Colors: Did your mom ever tell you not to wear navy blue and black together? Well, in my house, and in many others, I'm sure, this was a certain faux fas. This fall, designers and stylists are breaking the rules. This Aqua Lantern Sleeve Mini Dress ($88 @ Bloomingdales) worn with opaque black tights is a good example of how to rock the look on your own without investing in this couture Jonathan Saunders Salvin Satin Dress ($1260 @ Net-a-porter.com).
