Trend Alert: Eyelets Are Everywhere — Love It or Hate It?

Where: You ladies are so fashion savvy, we just had to praise this reader who is right on trend, pointing out how fashionable eyelets are this season. I’ll attest that in New York eyelets are hotter than the sidewalks in July. Second City Style, one of our fave blogs, also says it’s a go, as do many of our favorite fashion mags.

Why: This look is easy, feminine and pretty. Besides, when else can you get away with gallivanting down the streets in a billowing maxi dress in white eyelet? Only in summer, ladies. That’s why the time is now to get your hands on your favorite piece. It will be your go-to item for weekends and may even sneak into your casual Friday wardrobe if you choose the right style.

Get the Look: The color most commonly associated with eyelet is white, but that doesn’t mean you have to go around looking like bridezilla just to sport the trend. From dresses to tops (and even handbags and shoes!) eyelet is springing up in a wide variety of colors and cuts to suit every style. Keep the look sophisticated by teaming up an angelic dress or top with modern accessories, like chunky beads or bangles, a trendy purse and sexy sunglasses.
