Trend Alert: Feminine Bow-Front Blouses

image Flip through the chunky September issues of your favorite fashion magazines, and you’ll notice that each has its own take on fall’s top trends: wide-leg pants, chic cardigans, etc. If you’re like me, you’ll probably notice this common thread: bow-front blouses.

They may not be targeted specifically as stars on the rise, but look out for them and you’ll find they go well with tons of predicted trends. Wear one paired with a cropped jacket and wide-legged trousers or with a thin, tailored pencil skirt. Accomplish ’40s glamour or power lunch posh, all while eliminating the need for showy jewelry.

I seem to remember my mom having something similar to this Sutton Studio Exclusive Buttonfront Blouse with Tie ($139 @ Bloomingdales) in the ’80s.

Obviously, what goes around comes around, but what do you think? Are bow-front blouses a too-fussy reminder of the decade of decadence, or are they poised to make a chic comeback? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Oh please, no bows! When I was a preteen, my mom told me that a big bow at my neckline would draw attention away from my big (36 D) chest. Wrong, wrong, wrong! Forty years later, I’m still horrified by those bows. Please, fashion folks, keep in mind that some of us are built like Dolly Parton and would rather not make “the girls” look even bigger!!

YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! Those bows do not even look attractive on the models in the pictures. Do they really think the “A-typical” woman really wants to wear that??? Whoever thought that really should get a reality check!

I love them, a great look for fall

While not all of the blouses are appealing to me I did fall in love with Mason Tie-Neck blouse from Blaec. It has a nice scooped neckline looks soft and hangs well the bow isn’t irritating and I love the sleeves. Just had to order it. Thank you.

I love this trend!! It oozes effortless vintage glamour and makes you feel instantly chic. I’m not a fan of bows generally, I take them off the backs of coats etc, but there is something wonderful about tie neck blouses. I even have a tie neck sweater which I was mocked when I bought it last year by my sister, who now is asking me if I can get her one too!
