Bizarre Beauty Treatment: Beer Baths

Bathing in beer sounds like the frat boy equivalent of a little kid’s pool-full-of-chocolate dream. Although as a member of the wheat-challenged community (Hey guys! Steamed veggies at my place later?), this concept is exceedingly frightening to me, it appears I’m missing out.

Several beer spas have popped up in Eastern Europe. According to one that provides beer baths along with a dark brew to sip while you soak, “the beer yeast provides the skin with a wide range of vitamins B, proteins, and saccharides and contributes to overall softening and regeneration.” Beer baths are also said to aid in detoxification. Haha [obvious too-much-PBR joke]. And a NYTimes travel writer thinks sitting in a vat of beer is “perversely satisfying”. It looks like we’ve covered all the indulgence fronts here.

For a taste of the beer bathing experience without the overpriced plane ticket, pick up some Back To Basics Beer Conditioner ($5.59). The bottle makes us smile.
