DIY Tattoos: Not Your Average Peel-Off

Back in May, I took a leap of faith and started the process of getting my tattoo removed via laser. Little did I know that while the lovely doctors at Reflections in Livingston, NJ were doing a very thorough and almost painless job of removing my tattoo, people around the world were trying new and bizarrely innovative ways of putting more markings on their bodies.

Recent trends include the sun tattoo and at-home airbrushing kits. Although these aren't permanent, below are some suggestions on how to remove the whimsical decisions should you regret them the minute they touch your skin.

According to TrendHunter, the Tattoo Spray Kit stays on for three days, holding up against measly soap and water. Maybe a thorough scrubbing with some Fresh Sugarbath Body Polish ($65) will do the trick?

A bizarre fad called sun-tattooing has emerged where the recipient dons a robe with cutouts along the back before exposing his or her skin to the unrelenting sun. Tried this one and feeling the pangs of regret (and sunburn)? We suggest scribbling in the lighter parts of your bod with the crayon-like Tarte Bronzing Stick ($30). Get some friends to join in and help you out!

Now if you have a boring old ink tattoo and feel the need to get it removed, check out our tips for finding the right treatment center (we recommend Reflections if you're in the tri-state area) or maybe just apply some heavy makeup

My removal is coming along swimmingly – I just finished my third laser treatment (it could take up to ten for more complicated tattoos, I'm hoping for six?) and as you can see, the ink is fading fast. While I wait it out, I might just slosh on some CoverBlend ($18) for those strapless LBD moments.
