Patrick Robinson For Gap: We Like
The fashion world raised an eyebrow in respect on May 23rd, when retailer Gap announced that one of fashion’s favored sons, Patrick Robinson, would become the Executive Director of Design for Gap women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, and intimates lines in North America (he would later be assigned the European collections as well). With experience at Armani, Anne Klein, Perry Ellis, and his most recent independent collection for Target, we’ve waited with baited breath to see what Patrick could do for the mass retailer.
Having taken a look at the collection, I have to say that I’m impressed. Robinson has brought the Gap back to what it has always been intended to be: high quality basics and some nods to trends without being overly disposable. The Americas Collection is full of staples like the Belted Cardigan ($52), the Plaid ¾ Sleeve Ruffle-Front Top ($44), and the effortlessly stylish Khaki Mac Jacket ($198).
Now, if you want to get in on some sleek and stylish pieces, you need to shop the Limited Edition European Collection that Robinson designed for Gap. These pieces are editorial ready by anyone’s standards and sharply designed and beautifully executed. Grab your credit card and pick up this Shawl Collar Long Cardigan ($88) and Houndstooth Dress ($88).
So, take some time and review the collection for yourself. I know I'm personally ready to fall into the Gap.
