Halloween Costumes: Be A (Not-Slutty) Schoolgirl, Blair Waldorf Style
Now an urban-preppy icon, I’m hoping Blair Waldorf will save some of this year’s Halloween attire from falling into the Britney’s-first-video category of schoolgirl costumes. A white button-down tied above the belly button is almost never the right answer.
Build your Blair-ness starting with three of her weekday essentials: a navy pleated skirt ($11) and crossover tie ($3) – both from school uniform supplier French Toast – and a headband ($3.50) with a bow.
To evoke Blair’s youthful but undeniably over-the-top preppiness, try a shirt ($118) with details like a Peter Pan collar and puffed sleeves. Top it with an argyle sweater vest ($26) and place that crossover tie under the collar. Finish with a pair of Mary Janes ($98) or oxfords. Scheme, be generally difficult, and add white tights at your own risk.
