Modesty Fights Back: New Cleavage-Covering Bra Accessories

Last summer, I bought a fantastic wrap dress for half off.  It’s the kind of thin jersey thing you don’t really want to wear a tank underneath, so off I trotted to work, camisole-less.  Halfway through my morning commute, I looked down and was horrified to find my nude bra more-than-peeking out of the neckline.  Camisole-less was not going to cut it for the office.  Cue emergency Duane Reade stop, lots of fiddling with tiny safety pins, and lateness to work.

The creators of the Figs Bra (left, $38) and the Winkee (right, $15-$16) saw this gap in the cleavage coverage market, filled until now by paper clips, self-conscious hands, and the aforementioned safety pins. Both products provide coverage without the bulk of a tank top.

The Figs Bra, which can be worn as a regular bra, comes with a detachable stretch lace overlay that covers up the patch of skin that low-cut clothes leave bare.

The Winkee, which very much resembles a thong, is a triangular piece of fabric that you stick on to your own bra with Winkeedots, single-use sticky circles that hold the Winkee in place.

I’ve got 2 Winkees at home! They really work and are high enough to make one feel confident. I definitely recommend!

I am going to buy this. I wish there were more accessories like this.

My biggest issue is I have grown taller and a lot of my old favorite shirts ride up and show the skin between my shirt and pants too much. I hate that =/ Wish there was some fabric I could attach to the bottom of my old short shirts.. and no I am not sew savvy… maybe I can get some fabric tape & random fabric to tape to the bottom… there needs to be an easier way like these bras!

Hey have you heard of the hip-T? I actually heard about it on this site a while back. It does exactly what you are looking for. It is a tube top for your hips so you can wear some of your shorter t’s. It looks like you have layers on but you don’t have the upper bulk. They come in lots of colors and sizes…check out the website–it’s pretty cute! I bought a couple and I wear them all the time. I have also used it as a tube top-with some low shirts like the winkie.

Thank you so much!! I knew there had to be *something* like this. I had tried to google somthing like, waist cover/band/scarf.. no luck. So glad I mentioned it here and thank you so much for directing me to it.
I just recently found this blog and have been going back a few pages to read up but hadn’t come across the hip-t.

This is the kind of fashion stuff I like to read about.. winkee bra, hip-t ;) etc

    Just wanted to add-
The ‘fun’ ‘trendy’ aspect of fashion and this blog is cool, but I know what I like already.. its the little solutions and tips I am finding on this blog that I am loving. What type of clothes to wear with your body type, purse organizing tips, cleavage hiding and waist hiding items lol. Hope to come across more stuff like this from new posts or from lurking on past pages :D

Wow, I’ll have to check out the Winkee. I used to have a bra like that that I loved.

For those who are looking for mid-section coverage, google modest camisoles. There are a bunch of stores (mine included) that sell long, slim-cut layering pieces specifically designed to cover your gut and butt beautifully without ruining your outfit.

Besides my website, two others to try are Molly’s Clothing and Nothing Bare.

I love the idea of the cleavage cover that goes over the Fig bra. I would be interested in buying the cover only and not the bra.

Their website is http://www.camibands.com incase anyone want’s one accessory that solves both issues! It’s made of the prettiest lace and comes in great colors too!
