My New Fashion Staple: Scarves, Scarves, Scarves
When the temperature drops below 65, I’m rarely without a scarf on my body or in my bag. In fact, last winter I was known to blog from bed in boxers, a tee, and an army green wrap coiled around my neck.
My favorites are simple and relatively thin, because they don’t add too much bulk to body-skimming outfits and don’t create odd friction with winter sweaters in wool and cashmere. Luxe materials are nice, but in my mind unnecessary – I like to buy lots of scarves in lots of colors for not that much money.
This one from Urban Outfitters ($20) is a good example. Solid-colored and not too expensive, soft and super long, it can be knotted around the neck as shown to create a vertical line and distract from a late winter (or post-summer?) tummy.
Old Navy’s Lightweight Gauze Scarves ($12.50) also come in a bunch of solid colors, and the gossamer cotton knit will create an appealing contrast to light-but-structured fall jackets.
Singer22 is stocking celeb-favorite Love Quotes scarves in over 35 colors, including Blue Pearl, Bordeaux and Charcoal.
