The Latest Classics Arrive On The Scene

A few pieces in my closet are obvious classics – my grandmother's Louis Vuitton purse, my Burberry trench (vintage store find!), but the majority is a revolving door of disposable fashion. With the rise of chic and cheap stores like H&M and Forever 21, it's easy and affordable to adjust your look regularly and not hold on to the same styles for too long. However, according to the NY Times, some new pieces have risen to the status of classic and should remain in your wardrobe for many seasons to come. We've chosen a few from their list that we agree will stay in it for the long haul.

1. These Tom Ford Whitney Sunglasses ($320) seem to be covering the eyes of every Hollywood It-Girl, and it's no surprise. Their sleek shape and modern appeal give them definite star power. For a similar look, try these Hannah Sunglasses ($78) from Banana Republic

2. The overwhelming popularity of the Goyard Tote is reason enough to promote it from passing fad to nouveau classic. This bag is inching its way up to LV status, but if you can't afford the true luxury, we also think this City Tote ($118) will stand the test of time.

3. We love our Spanx, and now that they come in different varieties, like a full-on tight, we can get the same support and be fashion forward too.

4. The Tory Burch Reva Flat ($195) has covered the feet of many a socialista – so much so they are now considered a classic . We relish in these chic pewter flats ($65) too.

5. Empire-Waist Cardigans from Vince ($275) are pioneering a new silhouette in the knit world. The babydoll-esque shape is both feminine and modern and has proven to be one of the mainstays of a woman's wardrobe. Take a look at these other great cardigans on sale.
