Saress vs. Dressong: What’s Your Beach Style?

image image

Beach season is in full swing, and to keep you from baring too much, we recently featured the Saress —the ultimate low-maintenance cover-up for a day at the beach. The downside is that, well, it looks like it belongs on the beach. If your plan includes meandering through shops or dining seaside, you'll probably want something with a little more coverage and style. Like the Dressong. It's a single piece of fabric with one seam and two slits. The edges of the top slit extend into ties, which can be knotted around your neck, over a shoulder, at the bust, or any number of other ways. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with instructions, and while the pictures seem simple enough, my renditions didn't come out looking nearly as good (think “slouchy toga”). Still, the Dressong is available in more modern prints than the Saress, and even mastering one look will give you a dress suitable for public appearance. Both are now available for purchase online – check out below where you can go to buy.

Final word? Resort-goers, the naturally dexterous, or anyone who hopes to turn a beach day into date night, pack the Dressong. If you plan on walking at the water's edge with a good friend and a Slurpee, the Saress is enough.
