SheFinds Meets DVF Meets Coutorture

This week, SheFinds had the amazing chance to be involved in a once in a lifetime opportunity. Coutorture, a well-known fashion blog, engineered a fantastic PR assembly of Diane von Furstenberg and the fashion bloggers of NYC. Not just a get-together – a photoshoot of the bloggers in their most-desired DVF pieces.

On Wednesday evening, I showed up at the DVF studio in the Meat Packing District – the hottest neighborhood-du-jour for fashion, style, art, and food. I don’t know about you ladies, but when I walk into a designer store, I'm immediately intimidated. I feel like they can smell my inability to afford their pieces like a dog smells fear on a human. But I held my head high. The Coutorture and DVF staffs were astonishingly welcoming. The Coutorture ladies told me where to find the champagne, wine, and appetizers, where to get my hair and makeup professionally done, introduced me to the nicest photographers in the biz, and told me to start shopping. What a dream!

The sweetest and most honest DVF sales associate on the block walked the store with me, helped me pick out a few typical printed DVF wrap dresses, some of her newest beachy, nightlife, and long gowns, and a few cocktail dresses. Did you know DVF made shoes? Jewelry? Purses? I got to dive right into those too! After trying on a larger dollar amount of clothing than I probably make in six months, I had chosen what I wanted to be photographed wearing.

Once in my gown, I began to walk around the store where the mock photo studios were set up. I must have been the only one by that point in the evening to put on such a glamorous gown because everyone was ooohing and ahhhing. The photographer even came up to me between shots to tell me how beautiful I looked and that he couldn't wait to photograph me in the dress.
