SheFinds > SheFinds Solution: Zap Those Zombie Eyes (For Real)

SheFinds Solution: Zap Those Zombie Eyes (For Real)

I don't know about you, but somewhere around the age of 25 I woke up with black circles under my eyes. And then they never went away. They made me look haggard and tired, and much older than my mere quarter-century. My first attack on the circles was to cover them up. I tried out various undereye concealers, and, as I posted on SheFinds, the best one turned out to be Jane Iredale Active Light Under-Eye Concealer ($25). It's an effective product–by covering up black circles and reflecting light off them, it renders them nearly invisible–but, the thing is, concealer is a temporary fix. As soon as you wash your face, those gaping dark circles are still there. They greet you when you wake-up, salute you before you go to sleep, and make cameos when you're at the gym (as if sweating and grunting weren't unattractive enough!). It's time to go straight to the source.

What: Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment ($50)

shiseido

Why: This highly moisturizing treatment addresses the two major causes of black circles: discoloration and poor local micro-circulation. There's a whole ritual involved in applying it that might seem humorously detailed at first ("rub in circles around eye six times, then blend in small upward motions ten times, then touch these five pressure points twice"), but it's designed to ensure that you not only address the dark areas but also touch certain pressure points to increase circulation. Amazingly, it works! After one week of morning and night application, I had seen no changes. But skin cells have about a 28-day regeneration period, so now, after almost a month, my undereye circles have become noticeably lighter and smaller. Which, of course, also makes them easier to disguise with make-up. So don't throw away your concealer just yet, but definitely do hit your zombie eyes with the double whammy they deserve.
