The holidays are a chance to have some fun with your makeup. Whether your personal style is natural or a bit more dramatic, there’s an easy way to put a festive spin on your makeup (and still look like you). Here’s how:
Go Metallic. High-shimmer shades are the quickest way to put on the glitz. Accent your eyes with metallic jewel-toned shadows and pair with a coat of shimmery gloss.
Add highlight. Fake a candlelit glow by choosing neutral metallics like gold, bronze, and copper. Used sparingly, these colors add just enough warmth and luster to the skin.
Think classic. Red lips are shorthand for glamour, so if you’re feeling bold, go for it. Just be sure to balance a big statement lip with a more neutral eye. (I like dusting luminescent silver eye shadow over lids.) If you’re intimidated by red, try mixing a red you like with your favorite neutral or brown lipstick. You’ll likely feel more comfortable in your own custom shade.
If you’re at work and don’t have time for a complete makeup overhaul before your holiday party, you can still transform your daytime look to evening in just five minutes flat. Here are the products you need and how to use them.
- Flat or shimmer white eye shadow: Dust it over your browbone.
- Jet black eyeliner: Smudge it as close to the base of your lashes as possible.
- Shimmery blush: Layer it over the blush you’re already wearing.

This a hard one! I really love Bobbi’s gel eyeliners. They’re almost foolproof. I also can’t live without her big, fluffy kabuki brush.
I love the basic lip palette and the new glitter lip gloss…necessities.
i love love the shimmerbrick! i don’t usually wear bronzer but just a tiny bit of this goes a long way. and i love using the individual colours as eyeshadows!
I like the Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick Compact. I think the colors are beautiful, and I think they would look great with my green eyes making them even greener.

Like so many of you, I love Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliners! I was always a dry cake eyeliner user and they became hard to find, so I switched to liquids. Much harder to control, but I struggled with them for a few years. Then I found the gel eyeliners…much easier to control than liquids and more convenient than dry cakes! I would be lost without them ( and so would my eyes!).
Eyeshadow… all about the eyeshadow.
I’ve got a pink shimmer brick compact that I love. It gives me a nice glow and doesn’t make me look like a clown. I’d love to have a copy of this book, I really like how natural Bobbi Brown models always look and I’d like to emulate that.
The “Bobbi Brown ‘Shimmering Nudes’ Palette” is so perfect! I love that it is eye-catching & shimmering while also being nude colors.
For me, it’s all about the lipstick. I like Bobbi Brown’s “Pink Collection.”
I know I’m not alone when I say Bobbi Brown’s gel eyeliner is amazing!!! It stays in place on my lids when pretty much nothing else will. Moreover, I love her whole philosophy of makeup, so it makes supporting her line that much better. She makes it easy to do both everyday and glam looks, and her gel eyeliner is perfect to transition a day look into a jazzed up look for after work, because it’s still intact!
Although I love her brushes to pieces, her books are actually my favourite ‘product’ of hers! I love how much she emphasizes natural beauty and playing up your own unique features.

My BB faves change with the season– so many to choose from! But my current favorite for every-day use is the Stonewashed Nudes Palette eye shadows (in particular the Hot Stone shade.) I also use the Teen Beauty book to show high school girls how to wear makeup (for dances and every day) without looking … oh, how shall I say… awful?! ;-)

I use all Bobbi Brown brushes. I have used them for 5 years, cleaning once a week, and they are still as wonderful as they were new.
