I’m going to do the appropriate thing here: leave politics and pregnancy behind, and talk about Sarah Palin’s style.
There have been negative things said about Palin’s hair. Maybe she should cut it, maybe she shouldn’t be wearing that butterfly clip. But really, couldn’t it be so much worse? The color reminds me of Tina Fey’s, and when Palin's bangs are thick and sideswept, she looks even more Fey-esque (always a positive adjective). The teased thing she does in the front sometimes reminds me of the ladies from Mad Men, and harstylist Mika Fowler of the chic Gavert Altier salon, is predicting a return of the beehive this season.
The Times Online rightly points out that Palin’s separately-colored separates are a big step in the right direction from Hillary’s two-piece tangerine suit, and while this jacket isn’t a complete style coup, it definitely beats a shapeless silhouette. Extra points for coordinating the belt and the camisole. I also really appreciate a visible light-colored collar outside a black suit jacket. And a black suit jacket in general (second reference to Hillary’s orange disaster).

Sure, she may not have style icon status and she’s not inspiring Jackie O comparisons like Michelle, but there’s some good [style] stuff there, in my opinion.
It looks like a lot of people are of the same opinion, at least as far as the glasses go: there’s been a run on the Kawasaki 704, her rimless librarian-chic specs.
For a similar suit-separates style, try a smart jacket with a bit of detailing, like this one from Magaschoni Collection ($532) and classic black trousers ($158).
To get Palin’s blazer-and-silk-collar look, a classic black blazer ($198) works best. A silk blouse ($69) with a collar that’s not too out-there lies nicely over the lapels, and won’t create too much bulk under the jacket. See, you can be a controversy-creating Alaskan Republican too.
Sarah Palin's shoes are also making headlines – actual headlines, like in the WSJ – even though a rep for the company told the WSJ they're geared towards 20somethings who go clubbing. If you want your own pair of Palin's Naughty Monkey peep-toe pumps, go to Endless and snatch one up before they sell out like her glasses.
Is Palin breaking stylish ground, or should she have updated her look long ago?

Oh my G*D!!!!
This post may keep me from ever coming back or referring ANYONE to this site ever ever again!!!
Are you serious with this Palin/good style stuff?
Ugh and shame on you.
Politics aside, Palin is no style Icon. Unless, of course, there is a “Hockey Moms for America” publication that sits atop the coffee tables of medical professionals worldwide that I have recently overlooked. I think Tina Fey will secretly vote REP just so she can have 4 good years of poking fun at said “style”. Yuck.
I know, I know, the clothes aren’t gorgeous or revolutionary – and i DID say (or imply) that those wispy bangs are not good. They’re not. But I keep thinking how much worse it could be! Muted pastel skirt-suits or ill-fitting shift dresses…
she doesn’t look great. but compared to a lot of other women in politics her style is practically a revelation. at least she looks like she’s wearing real clothes as opposed to the polyester pants suits that other women seem to favor. is she carrying it off with the grace and style of michelle obama? heck no. but at least it’s a step in the right direction.
Her style is bland. All business and “conservative”. Can see why the Republican religious base likes her even more because of it. I have heard many say she dresses like a librarian, especially with that hairstyle and the glasses!

She so needs a stylist!! Or just a really good friend and some honest advice!!!
this is an insult to women in politics.
Wow – an insult to a great comedian and a great TV show.
I like Sarah’s style! It’s down-to-earth, simple and classy. I’ve seen pictures of her in sweat suits, and she looks just as great! She seems to keep things simple, which gives me the impression that she’ll spend more time on the tasks (family, work, etc) than on looking in the mirror, but she’ll still look great doing it!
I like Sarah Palin. Her style is business, because she means business. If she dressed more up more then she wouldn’t look the part. Whats she wears is what a governor soon to be vp should wear. Its not always about fashion, but it is about how you present yourself to those that support you. I like her style, it inspires other women out there that you can still look great in a business suit but not slutty either.
The fact is she is a working mom of 5 regardless of political affiliation she is working it in her own way. Just an FYI to all the Yuck posts: where do you work that you can get away with some of the garbage that the designers put out these days for “office attire?” I know I work in a court and her style would be envied and respected something a VP should be.
I see no grace or style in Michelle Obama, just a rather chunky, thick woman who really needs to stop going sleeveless.
Ms. Palin’s look is anything but natural. Absurdly lined lips, thick matte foundation, urgh. Her hair and makeup are definitely dated. I would say early nineties combined with a bit of eighties teasing? The chunky highlights alone would make a contemporary colorist cringe. She should’ve gone on Oprah just for the potential of a makeover episode. Dated, dated, DATED.
I like this… I linked it to my blog

I think Sarah Palin is Sarah Palin and I appreciate her style because she wears what works for her and doesn’t follow the trend du jour. I should hope she doesn’t cut her hair unless she herself wants to. Why females constantly want to look like clones of one another is beyond me. Kudos to Jennifer’s, Nikole’s and Arin’s comments. Individuality and class rule!
Sarah Palin is gorgeous. Her hair and skin are beautiful. She is very natural looking. Of course, she could have opted for the bleached blond long shag that is currently popular with TV anchors and commentators…that would truly be yuck. So here we have an accomplished successful woman who is gorgeous and smart and most of the replies are “yuck” and negative towards her? Yes I think politics did get into these posts!
What surprises me about Michelle Obama’s style is that it appears to be a copy of Jackie Kennedy Onassis — the page boy hair, the straight skirts with hip length jackets, etc. I think she should be herself and not try to be the Black Jackie.
