Week Of Hair Help: Volumizing Fine Hair (For Under $5)

I’ve always kind of thought volumizing shampoos and conditioners were lying to me. True, they tend not to weigh down my fine hair, but neither does most shampoo. I much prefer to add volume with post-shower tactics. Here are two of my favorites:

For everyday: Sunsilk Daring Volume Volumizing Spray ($4) is fabulous for slightly-bigger-than-your-normal-hair volume. It’s not daring (unless you’re a volume ultraconservative), but it leaves hair with enough bounce that it doesn’t look pasted to the side of my head.

For tousled style: When I’m trying to make my hair “curly” – which on me ranges from slightly wavy to not-quite-straight – Garnier Fructis Style XXL Volume Thickening Mousse ($4) works great. A palmfull worked through my shoulder-length hair is enough to keep it tousled-looking rather than flat.
