Plaid is everywhere this fall from Gap windows to evening dresses. But worn the wrong way, and you can end up looking like you belong on a horse. So how can you do plaid right? The key is in the layers.
Leave the blue jeans at home and pair with black skinny jeans instead. This will dress up your plaid and make it more modern. Throw on a neutral cropped leather jacket (we are big fans of Mike & Chris) to add more layers and tone down the plaid. For your feet, choose sleek black leather booties (here's another outfit to wear them with) and grab a rich tan patent tote to add some warmth to the overall look. For accessories, an artsy cuff, teardrop earrings, and a soft cream scarf are the appropriate finishing touches to this chic, weekend look.

Cute shirt…Now, what’s wrong with looking like you are on the back of a horse?!!
I love this look.
I’m always hesitant to pair black with brown, but it looks great here. Any tips you can share about mixing these colors??
[growing up it was a cardinal sin to mix black and brown, but I'm trying to break free from that!]
Great post! I linked to it in my post about plaid tech-cessories (http://yourblog.direct2dell.com/2008/09/30/mad-about-plaid-tech-cessories-to-match/), as a good how-to for people comtemplating wearing plaid this Fall!
Looking forward to seeing more like this! :-)
