Who Knew Black Gloss Would Be So Hard To Get Your Hands (Lips?) On

HBO's vampy series True Blood just wrapped a successful first season, and teen fang flick Twilight blew Bond away at the box office this past weekend. So it should come as no surprise that we're taking our winter beauty cues from the undead (just look at the latest grey nail craze). Seems everyone's clamoring to relive their junior high goth days, albeit in a very couture way.

Black lip gloss is taking the black nail polish trend of last year to a new level. Inky lip lacquer is selling out all over the place, with YSL's true-black Pur Gloss ($28) flying bat-like off the virtual shelves, and Lancome's highly anticipated Piha gloss ($48) already half-way through its waitlist. Want to get your name into one of the 250 or so remaining slots? Call 212-705-2886 and reserve away, or take your chances and wait for Piha to debut on Lancome's website and at Bloomie's Lancome counters nationwide.

For those of you lucky enough to get a tube of coal-black gloss (instead of a lump of coal) in your stockings this year, we want to hear from you. How do you like your vampy lip look — and what are you wearing it with?

I have Kat Von D For Sephora lip gloss in Gunmetal. It’s actually quite subtle and won’t make it look like you’ve been sucking on muddy hogs.

o ya i love this trend!

Not for everyday but for the vampy emergency…if you run out of coal lipgloss, take a smudge of charcoal shadow, and mix (on your hand) a drop of clear or sheer tinted lipgloss. It works!

But what are the odds of this looking anything less than absolutely ridiculous on anyone off the runway?
