Alexander McQueen Schools Us On The Theory Of Evolution

New York Magazine provided us with a much-needed daily dose of wacky this morning, with photos from the startling Alexander McQueen show at Paris Fashion Week. Call me old fashioned, but these ten inch creatures look as if they emerged from the sea to prey on us all…or maybe just to dance some disco here on solid ground.

The Daily Mail reported that the collection was inspired by Darwin’s The Origin of Species, and since we all know that according to the laws of evolution, after sparkles come weird, prehistoric animal prints, McQueen is right on point with these patterned mini dresses and crazy boots. Props to the models for making it down the runway in these shoes, but bruises and scrapes do not go with our fall wardrobe.

While McQueen’s sparkly footwear isn’t in our future, we can sport a little embellishment here and there. Try a more practical, studded suede harness boot or maybe a very Beyoncé-esque sequin vest.
