The Abaete show was held off-site this year, some 20 blocks downtown from the tents. At first I was huffing and puffing over having to hustle over there directly from the Red Dress Show, but as it turned out, the decision to move away from the tents turned out to be a wise one. Although I still had to stand in line, it was a relatively short one and we were not stuck in the middle of a crowded, noisy venue.
My zen-like waiting time made the standing room assignment all that easier to accept once we were allowed inside. And better yet, the show didn't fill up so I leisurely took a seat in the third row a good ten minutes before the plastic was peeled off the runway.

Although Laura Poretzky's clothes were regal and eye-catching, it was her collection of Payless booties that truly stole the show. Each model donned a pair of new boots or pumps from the Abaete for Payless line, decorated with edgy hardware. And as we mentioned earlier, the chain trend is sure to be a hot one in the seasons to come. On the runway these shoes looked so high-end, I had to triple check my program to confirm they were, in fact, the Payless brand.
Unfortunately these coveted boots won't be available in stores until the fall, but in the meantime you can check out her equally chic gladiators currently on sale at Payless.com.
