Hot on the heels of the pants vs. not-pants debate, I’m confronted with this item above. Honestly, I don’t even know what I’m looking at here. Is that some newfangled modern sculpture? Or an orange peel gone awry, as the Daily Mail so aptly put it? British architect and designer, Julian Hakes, claims that in fact, this is a shoe, and also the future in footwear. Supposedly, this “Mojito” design, which supports only the ball and heel of the foot, is actually great for your health (not sure why, but okay…) Although we always appreciate some fashionable ingenuity, we’re also in favor of shoes that protect at least some part of our feet.
Since extra foot exposure is the season’s most exciting shoe trend, we suggest you try some stylish cut outs. We’re obsessed with this dramatic bootie from L.A.M.B; if you’re looking for something a little tamer, go with this suede shoe by Boutique 9.

how in the world does that ’shoe’ stay on one’s foot? Ok, I’m a little perturbed…a little enlightenment?
Haha omg so true…what IS that a picture of?
Cut-out shoes sound awesome…but will my feet really stay warm with them in the winter months? I guess this might be a fleeting fall trend.
