If you know your way around a curling or straight iron, then preventing damage is probably on your short list of hair concerns. Though I tend to go natural in the summer months, the rest of the year involves copious amounts of heat styling. Here are the products I incorporate into my routine that prevent my tresses from getting burnt to a crisp.
Unless you have super course, thick strands, a heavy daily conditioner is just going to weigh you down. Instead, I sub in Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Treatment Masque ($26) once a week for my regular conditioner.
Sprays that protect your hair from heat often have the side effect of making it limp and greasy. Matrix Vavoom Iron In Volume Protective Dry Mist ($14) sprays on dry and actually gives you a volume boost. My curling iron does not get near my head without a liberal application of this stuff.
Apply a few drops of Matrix Sleek Look Sealing Serum ($15) to keep your hair glossy and healthy-looking, even if you’re hiding a few split ends. And check out our Maintain Your Hair at Home Guide for ways to cut back on sky-high salon bills.
