In conjunction with Better.tv, we’re giving away a TRIA laser hair removal system ($795) this week! TRIA is the only FDA-cleared laser hair removal device you can use at home – with results similar to those you’d get at a professional’s office.

TRIA

To enter, just leave a comment below about your favorite beauty secret. Though we’re betting that if you win, it’ll soon be your fabulous new TRIA.

Interested in more high-tech beauty? There are a bunch of products out now that go way beyond collagen and peptides.

omniluxtanda

On the anti-aging front, both Omnilux New-U ($299) and Tanda ($275 – and there’s also one to fight acne) use LED light technology to improve the tone and texture of skin, and they’re safe and completely simple to use on your own. A vote of legitimacy: The company that makes the Omnilux New-U also makes several more-intense versions of the product for use in doctors’ offices.

luster 1 hour whitenuface

Luster 1-Hour White ($40) also uses light, but to whiten teeth – in one hour (!). The kit comes with the light device, plus a whitening gel and a rinse to help the process along. NuFace Anti-Aging ($325) uses an entirely different technology – gentle “micro-current impulses” – to diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and the like.

For a great at-home hair removal kit, the Shobha Sugaring Kit ($30) covers everything. It includes all-natural, non-smelly, professional- grade Shobha Talc-Free Powder for pre-treatment, Shobha Spatulas for application, Shobha Sugaring Gel and Denim Strips for hair removal, and a Shobha Sugaring Instruction Booklet.

This Schick Intuition Plus Razor ($9.99) may look like a basic razor, but it actually dispenses shave gel as you glide it up your legs. The Venus Breeze Razor ($10.99) also dispenses shave gel and rich body butters each time you use it.

I love it when you can find something like in the salons but at home, especially with economies recession. My tip is moisturize the skin from head to toe. It doesn’t have to be the expensive stuff either, I avoid the sun directly to my face, plenty of sunblock and hat always a huge benefit.

  • Stephanie

Always, always, always remove make-up before going to bed … and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!!

  • Angela

My FAVORITE beauty tip is for the under eye luggage I often find myself with in the morning. To get rid of the bags under my eyes and unwanted puffiness I take a small amount of Alum powder and mix it with my favorite moisterizer and apply it under my eyes, Poof, the puffy is gone!

  • Shawn Darlene

In the morning on a clean face, take a freshly cut piece of musk mellon, and rub around the eye and up at the outter corner of the eye. It is not only soothing, it acts as a natural way to firm and lift the skin. When it drys it IS NOT STICKY! You can also use it on the neck up to the chin.

  • Elizabeth

I have the driest legs (and palest) on the planet. I want to self tan but everything streaks on me. Until I started using Vitamin E oil to moisturize. Out of the shower while my skin is still damp, I rub in vitamin e oil. While I get ready it dries and has “cured” my scaly legs.

In the morning I always wake up with puffy, tired looking eyes. I had tried cold spoons, teabags, cucumbers, you name it!! Wearing nail polish on your toes for an extended period of time can turn your nails yellow. So make sure to give your toes a breather from polish every now and then. Soak your nails in lemon juice to return them to their original color.

For yrs. I have drank plenty of water, moisturized my skin and take Vit. E every day. I’m 53 and my own bank who has the “senior” banking program make me show my ID when I want my free money order. They don’t believe I’m a SENIOR! HA! Using sunscreen and moderately getting sun on your face over the years helps a lot!

  • Michelle

When i go to bed i make sure my make-up is off, If i am in a hurry i use baby wipes. They are just as good as the expensive stuff and without the hassle. Plus, its good for a mom that does not have a lot of free time…

  • Amber

Hydration on the inside is sooooo important to help your outside shine, eat a healthy meal plan and exercise, try to get enough sleep and moisturize daily – body and face(with sunblock). Start early, in your teens and twenties and it keeps the years off later! I’m a mom of five and many think I’m their sister when we first meet :)

  • Erin Carpenter

If you want fuller lashes apply a light dusting of powder to your lashes before using your mascara. This really works much better than volume building mascara that always seems to clump on my lashes. I use a small eyeshadow brush and dust it on. I gently wipe away any that has fallen on my face or under my eyes. Then use your mascara as usual!

One more great tip is to apply a nude-colored eyeliner on the inside rim (waterline) of your lower eye. This really brightens up the eyes. It makes me look fully rested even when I’ve had little sleep.

I’m 60 years old, and have been using Vaseline since I was in my 30′s. People don’t guess my age correctly-they think I’m much younger. (My husband doesn’t mind-whatever works!)

  • Dana Leigh

I think that the self tanning product “ZIA” its all natural, and you can use it on your face. Moisturize.. Moisturize.. Moisturize.. And sunscreen is a must.

  • Lien

Being 40 now I’ve found that what has helped rid of a double chin I simply exercise the neck muscles by repetitions of overlapping my bottom lip over my top lip. This stretches the muscles. Also stretching my neck forward to back. Using pressure from my thumbs I also first place them together under my chin and apply firm pressure while slowly going back towards each ear then stroking downward at the glands.
To keep my feet barefoot beautiful I rub each foot with vaseline before bedtime and wear socks overnight. I do this four days a week and my feet are baby soft.

My fav “beauty tip” is to wash my hair with Dawn dish soap once a months to get rid of all the build-up that collects on my hair through-out the month. It really makes a difference and doesn’t dry out my hair like most strippers!! (Plus it’s really inexpensive!!!)

  • Lori

I am 54 and people think I’m 35. I’ve used only baby bath to wash my face and neck since high school, VERY gentle to the skin, . I ALWAYS wear sunglasses, since I was 15, and have worn high spf sun screen since my early twenties. Neutrogena 100 is my fave. At night I use vitamin c face cream and emu oil on my face and neck. Emu oil makes your skin feel like a baby’s skin. NO professional facials. The less tugging and pulling on your face the better, and I have control of how much “movement” is done when I do my own facial. Doing a good facial scrub, like the Neutrogena micro dermabrasion system once a week is a must to get rid of dead skin cells. Any dermabrasion kit like Neurtrogena works just as well.

I have fairly decent skin, but, I am one of those that suffer from what doctors call “chicken skin” (they’re those small little bumps that cover areas like your legs and arms; kind of reminds you of “goose bumps”).
    Answer:
Use exfoliating gloves at least 3-4 times a week while using some type of anti-bacterial soap (for those with sensitive skin be careful, it can dry out the skin).
IMPORTANT: Moisturize the skin as much as possible!

It also keeps you skin looking younger because the water flushes out the toxins in your body. Enjoy, it is a beautiful day

  • Stephanie R. Less “Stevie”

I saw the show today and think this would be great. I checked into laser hair removal a couple of years ago; but could not afford it. This could be my greatest beauty secret that I would love to share.

  • Tammy

I sure could use this, would be great to win, can not afford laser thanks

  • s jacobs

My best beauty secret is probably well known – but bears repeating. Get a good night’s sleep and don’t let yourself get too stressed out.

  • Tracy Lee

Vaseline is a great, cheap eye makeup remover. It’s also great for fixing chapped, scaly lips. Slather on a bunch of Vaseline, then use a toothbrush to massage lips. Wipe the excess off on a tissue. Your lips will be smooth and soft.

  • Lyra

Tightlining! Use a flat eyeliner brush to “push” eyeliner into your upper lashes, dont just drag an eyeliner brush along your lashes. It will make your eyelashes look super thick, but like your not wearing any makeup at all.

  • Valerie Ulibarri

I put warm water on a wash cloth and put it on my lips for 2 mins to soften dead skin then apply petroleum jelly to my lips and use toothbrush to lightly scrub and exfoliate my lips. It also plumps lips and leaves them so soft and kissable.

  • Stacy

I like to use baby oil gel in the shower on my hands, feet, & where ever I have extra dry spots in the cold, winter months.

  • Jenna

My grandmother always told me: Everything you do to your face, you should do to your neck. There is not sense having a 30 year old face if you still have a 45 year old neck.

  • Janine Weeds

My beauty secret is wash your face & moisturize at night after dinner instead of at bed time so that when you are tired you don’t blow it off. The best you can do for your skin is remove make up & moisturize.

  • Dawn

My morning routine: Cleanse Skin, and then I use a homemade astringent mixture of Witch Hazel, Tea Tree oil, Vitamin E oil, and follow up with a Tinted Moisturize with SPF 15. I get compliments on a flawless complexion all the time.

  • NaChae

Ok, I have had laser treatment which CAUSED me to grow thicker, longer, and worst of all caused hair to grow that wasn’t there before. This has forced me to continually have to wax since the economy is so bad and the treatments are costly.
    TIP:
For the woman who suffer from the beard effect and regular or soft facial waxing doesn’t work try a HARD WAX, yes I know they say it won’t work. Untrue, the trick is to cleanse, numb, moisturize, and then lightly powder the face so that the wax sticks to the thick and unsightly hairs, which allows for a clean removal (like any other waxing procedure do not repeat on the same area.
This worked for me, try it and see if it works for you!

  • Kim

I like using Vaseline on my feet and hands and wearing socks and gloves over night. It may not be too romantic, but it really softens the skin!

  • Tracy

I use very little makeup, moisturize everyday, and I never wash my face with soap.

  • Heather

I’d love to get the Tria hair removal system. I’d give it to my mom as a gift. She had a hysterectomy a few years ago and now that her hormones are all out of wack she gets some dark facial hair that she hates! She’s tried a variety of ways to get rid of it or make it lighter. I’m hoping that winning this would be the solution!

  • Mikalene

My best beauty tip has been using bareminerals powder after applying foundation just to the areas of my face that need it. I get 8 hours of sleep and drink 8 glasses of water a day to keep me going and looking great. A half hour of excersize 5-6 days a week keeps me looking young.

  • Rosemary Fifita

I am a stay at home mom with six children (ages 9 to 3 months). I don’t have many beauty secrets…everything has to be easy to do while doing another task, such as the loofah in the shower for my body, skin refresher for my face, and whitening strips for my teeth…lol Of course, a quick swipe of my bareminerals afterwards. Also taking my vitamins while getting some breakfast. A little of something, if done daily goes a long ways..

  • Adis

I would love to win the tria hair removal, I am unable to shave due to senitive skin. I am using the Veet cream hair removal at this time, it ok to use but so messy. I have to use this at least twice a week. It would be great if I could use an item this is not messy or senitive to the skin, I hope I am the lucky winner.

  • Julie

My best beauty tip is to smile! It is amazing how much better you look and feel when you just smile. Enjoy your day:)

I drink plenty of water and little to no soft drinks. I recently began exfoliating with my facial lotion and rinsing with warm water follwed with a toner and over night vitamin cream by Boots, no cleansers. • Jamie

I’ve had dark hair and always struggled with my self esteem having hair grow in areas it should not. I was lucky enough to find a man who loved me for who I was but each time weve had a child (four now), more hair tends to show up. I would love to have something I would probably never be able to afford on my own but could change the way I look at myself. The newest thing I’ve discovered is for covering gray hairs in between colors. I’ve had a few gray haris since high school but have always plucked them away. They have started coming in larger patches that is making the plucking harder to do. I can’t afford to get it colored so my friend told me about a new product called ROUX ‘Tween Time. It is an instant haircolor touch up sitck. It applies like alipstick and washes away with shampoo. Can be bought at Sally Beauty Supply for 6.89

  • Mike

I’m sure it has allready been said… but Sun Screen, Sun Screen, Sun Screen! Sure a nice tan looks nice, but don’t over do it. You will pay the price later in life, and your skin may make you look much older than you are 20 years down the road.

Instead of paying money for a deep condition from a salon, I do it at home. You can use any deep coniditioner that you want, I use Sunsilk, I found that is extremly moisterizing. After I get out of the shower or even when hair is dry and I actually lather my hair with conditioner, put a shower cap and go to bed, in the morning I wash my hair and it’s extremly soft, shiney and feels healthy. When I have time, I do the same steps, 1. Apply a good conditioner (dry or wet) 2. Put a shower cap on and then I get a blowdryer, and apply heat to the cap, for extra conditioning! It’s great you must try it if you have split ends or dry hair!

  • Annie

Best spa-like facial…and it’s cheap and you already have the ingredients. Equal parts olive oil and honey (approx 2 Tablespoons each) and 1/2 part brown sugar (approx 1 Tablespoon). • Sarah Walden

Want a flawless glow? I use Prescriptive Magic under my photogenic foundation and then I put a tiny amount into a spritzer with some purified water and lightly mist my face after makeup application. This diffuses the light and gives the skin that Hollywood luster. I use apricot blush stain on my cheeks and a tiny dot on the bridge of my nose to mimic a healthy flush. Then I dust a bronzer to contour my cheeks, chin and sides of my face and run a highlighter down the center of my nose and most importantly, just above the bow of the lips and in the center of the lower lips. This makes your lips look much bigger. Don’t concentrate on the colors going on your face as much as you do the light that can come from it. Remember to mimic candlelight with soft shimmers – but watch the texture! Don’t use glittery products of powders that might settle in any fine lines. Diffusion if the key to glowing!

My favorite beauty secret is for dry ends on your hair. I have very long hair, and there really is no use to have it for me if it isnt in great condition and shiny. I take 1/2-1 cup of extra virgin olive oil and put it on my hair especially on the ends. Put a towel warmed in the dryer on my head for 1/2-1 hour, rinse out and shampoo and condition if needed. I have shiny and not that frizzy split end look, hair. It’s also cheap, because usually people have olive oil around the house.

For removing unwanted hair on upper lip, tweezing works great , especially if you have sensitive skin. My beauty secret: Exfoliate lips once a week. The skin on your lips is just important as the skin on other parts of your body, so keep them soft and supple by exfoliating them with a warm washcloth with a little bit of brown sugar on it. If you don’t want to wash your hair everyday, but it gets oily at the scalp use a little baby powder on a powder brush to absorb it. Works great on blond hair to hide new growth some.

Advice from my grandma who always had youthful skin: allways apply a quality moisturizer twice a day in an upward motion to counteract the effects of gravity.

My favorite beauty secret is a little weird, I exfoliate useing a Scotch-Brite Delicate Care scrub sponge. I use it before bed and when I get up. It cleans deep removing all make up and dead skin, it has also helped control my acne

My beauty secret is coconut oil! Use it in your foods for benefits to your hair, skin and nails and keep a separate jar in your bathroom- you can use it to moisturize your skin and hair. Just rub directly into skin for a natural, moisturized glow or put in hair and rinse out after 10 mins for silky locks! Don’t use it on your face though, that would be breakout-central :)

    Love your site!

I use Silk’n SensEpil at home.
It is very easy to use, and it feels just like the professional treatments, only with no pain at all!
I started off at the lowest setting and I’m having completely satisfying results.

My beauty tip is to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!! The cleaner the pores the less wrinkles you will have in the long run! =)

use daily moisturizer with SPF and soy. soy is known to brighten and even out skin tone. it also contains phytoestrogen which helps to prevent wrinkles. try drinking soy milk, i replace a cup of coffee for a cup of soy milk once a day.
