According to New York Magazine’s The Cut, when he wasn’t busy designing lochness monster shoes for Paris Fashion week, Alexander McQueen hatched a plan to sue footwear super store, Steve Madden. The charge? Shamelessly knocking off his bad girl-chic “Faithful” bootie and making a more affordable imitation. Okay, so it’s more than obvious that they copied the moto-inspired shoe to a tee, but isn’t that the point of Steve Madden? To make gorgeous shoes with heart-stopping price tags available to the masses? Apparently McQueen and his legal team see otherwise and plan to fight this battle to the death.
Since the mock-McQueen shoe seems to be out of stock (a euphemism for Stevie got served, literally) we’ll stand by the store and try a classic foldover boot from Madden. For a well-executed designer imitation, try their Persis bootie (if you know Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. collection, this cut out style will look a tad familiar).
There’s nothing more satisfying than a cheap, quality find. So we’ve assembled them for your convenience in our guides to the best in cheap pants, scarves, and bras.
