Chanel launched jade nail polish, first seen on their Fall 2009 runway, last week at Fashion’s Night Out (thanks to Stylelist for the tip). They offered mini-manicures with the color at one of their New York stores and the shade is now available at chanel.com. If you don’t rush to it though, it made be hard to get your hands on a full-size bottle of the polish to take home and paint your nails yourselves.
This is where I have to tell you an embarrassing fashion obsession secret of mine – I saw that polish on the Chanel runway last year and I really, really wanted it. Of course, I had no idea how to go about getting a bottle, seeing as it didn’t really exist, so I just made it myself. Quite successfully, I might add, and for less money (even with buying two bottles of polish) than the Chanel one will probably cost.
If you’re in a DIY sort of mood, try mixing about one-sixth of OPI Green-wich Village into the bottle of Essie Baby’s Breath. I promise it looks just like the Chanel.

Amazingly, I found a pretty close copy at Forever 21 in August after seeing it in the September books.
OPI also has a new green matte shade that looks closer to this Chanel one so you don’t have to mix the 2.

The mixture you suggest comes out too yellow so I added a tiny drop of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear in Blue It (16), and it is perfect (except of course for the gorgeous shimmer of the real thing)
