This week’s GOOP newsletter, the holistic beauty/health/cuisine roundup from Gwyneth Paltrow, includes an in-depth description of the entire cupping process, as well as some basic history of the allegedly detoxifying treatment. The application of the cups, generally made out of glass or bamboo, can “feel like a small octupus grabbing hold” of one’s skin.

Well, if it’s only a small octopus, is it even really worth your time?

I’m sure many will disagree, but I’ve heard many first-hand accounts that Gwyneth is actually a pretty cool lady and her skin glows in a beautiful way. Paying attention to what she has to say (on the topics of health and beauty) may not be the worst idea ever; maybe she glows because the cupping actually works.
