You CAN Wear Liquid Liner for Everyday, Even if You’re Not Amy Winehouse

For the longest time, I associated liquid eyeliner solely
with the whole ‘60s cat eye look. Fun
for a party or a day I’m feeling particularly sassy—but too high maintenance
for the daily grind, and way too much for my shaky over-caffeinated hands to
contend with on a regular basis.

Then I started experimenting with a light application
of liquid liner instead of my usual pencil on my upper lids—and I haven’t gone
back! A thin, even application of the
liquid liner (don’t wing it out like
you would for the ‘60s look) makes my eyes look way more intense, but in a
subtle, can’t-put-your-finger on it way.
Just using black liquid liner, I’ve never gotten so many compliments on
the color of my eyes. And unlike the
pencil, it tends to stay put and avoid smearing throughout the day. Here are two great liquid picks.

It just doesn’t get any easier than L’Oreal
Voluminous Mistake-Proof Marker Eyeliner
($7.50). It looks and applies like a Sharpie, and you
can angle the marker pen to easily get the thickness of line you want. It’s a great way to ease into the liquid liner
thing if you’re a pencil devotee.

Not only does Sephora
Long-Lasting Metallic Eyeliner ($10) stay on the whole day without flaking
off, it comes in a range of subtle (AKA appropriate outside of a nightclub)
metallic shades like aubergine and dark gray that are actually very wearable. Plus it won’t break the bank.
