Beauty Roadtest: Lilly Pulitzer’s Signature Nail Polish Is Bright & Peppy (Not Preppy)

Lilly Pulitzer took the ’60s fashion world by storm with her iconic pink, green and turquoise psychedelic shift dresses–it was the cornerstone of preppy culture at the time. Picture Mad Men’s Betty Draper by the pool with long pink nails.

M.A.C  must have been thinking the same thing, as they’ve collaborated with Lilly Pulitzer’s signature palette, and come up with M.A.C. in Lillyland nail polish.  The deep coral color, called “Steamy” is anything but preppy. It will brighten up your drab winter wardrobe and still be relevant come spring and summer–we bet you’ll be just as hooked as we are.

See more beauty roadtests, plus our guide to spring fashion, another great nail color for spring, and how to wear the neon trend, in moderation.

I am completely shocked and devestated by the news regarding Alexander McQueen. His work must live on in his memory. So tragic. =(

I’m sad that this week’s links includes the dating article from the NYT. I’m a UNC student, and I can honestly say that it isn’t representative of our university at all. Sure, I’ve noticed the gender ratio in some of my art & liberal arts classes, but in terms of dating, I’ve never let my boyfriend cheat on me, and he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

I thought the writer of “nice clothes make you less approachable” was making a hilarious parody article. Then I realized she might be serious, and I hope that’s not the case.

She claimed that men afraid of all her nice designer labels, but in the every instance she quoted, the men directly commented on a poor personality more so than fashion. For example, she said was shocked her husband left her for a women who dressed really low key, even as he was saying it was because the writer was always insulting his looks.

Ugh, that article on campus female-to-male ratios was a little disturbing. I went to all-girls high school, and was SO relived when I went to an engineering college. 70% guys!
Guys are great to hang out with, but I wouldn’t want to compete for them so much. It goes to their heads too quickly (like it did in the article).
How messed up is it that girls feel they have to put up with cheating just because the guys have “so many options”!
