my current computer is in desperate need of retirement. it’s a composite of 2 gigantic old-school monitors that i got during undergrad from my university property surplus and an old desktop tower i inherited from an old boyfriend. it’s an extremely unattractive set up which currently resides in my kitchen, due to the fact that i’m renovating my reading room/office area. i’m having people over this weekend and am thinking of throwing a tablecloth over it and telling people that it’s a top secret project that they musn’t disturb. that hp is pretty awesome and would totally match my kitchen decor, i would probably display it and call my guests’ attention to it at every possible moment.

What’s not to love. I came late in life to computing 10 years ago when I was 64 and my two computer geek sons brought me a big clunky old thing and plopped it on my kitchen table (I had no desk then). Needless I have surfed from 3 to 97 to 98 to XP with a variety of hardware and this HP Touchsmart is the creme de la creme with a marischino cherry on top. Oh my how I want one. As PhD grad student I make next to nothing (I can apply for food stamps), but the schools all require that you have a laptop. My current laptop is old enough that I purchased it before my undergrad years and is having geriatric issues (poor old computer). Running the programs I need to for my degree is like pulling teeth, I have to turn on the little fan pad I bought for it so that it doesn’t overheat and lock up/shut down and hope it makes it through. Then I can run the computation and leave the room and go get some tea while I wait for it to finish. Please pick me! I could really use a new computer!

The newest iteration of the Touchsmart is not a huge step up from the prior generation, but it fixes the problems of the prior version. It doesn’t run hot, it has better battery life and it’s honestly a very WELL designed piece of hardware. They’ve taken a page from Apple and designed a piece of machinery that is not only elegant but very functional. It strikes a balance between the in vogue and what you actually need. It’s got a great processor, it can hold up to 8 gigs of RAM and the touch-enabled apps are awesome. REALLY great laptop with a lot of bang for the buck. Great price point too.

Wow, what an amazing giveaway for a truly phenomenal computer! I can’t even begin to imagine how this computer would ease some of the troubles of my everyday life. I love that it has 500GB of hard drive space – I could store so much on it! Also, I love, love, love the 12.1″ HD LED BrightView panel – I’m currently only using a tiny netbook for my main comp and it is hard to stare at such a screen so small. It would be such a welcome change! Can’t imagine how easy and fast it is to open programs with a computer with that much system memory – no more waiting five minutes just to load an internet browser! Another thing that really piqued my interest is the advanced thermal design because even with this small netbook that I currently have, it gets so hot on my lap, so it would be so nice to have a notebook that didn’t burn my legs. Thanks for the giveaway…subscribed to newsletter; I like the HP TouchSmart tm2t series because of the versatility that it allows in interacting with your laptop i.e. as a notepad, a traditional laptop, a touch screen, etc. Also, the connectivity features allow it to be a truly mobile platform with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile broadband via wireless service…a nice piece of hardware !

The HP Touchsmart is an extremely versatile computer. It has a great touch screen with which I could conduct business at work and take it with me wherever I go.
