How To Win Tory Burch Reva Flats For $5 At ScoreLuxe’s Penny Auction In 5 Steps

UPDATE, 3/31/11: OohILove Is Bankrupt

Find out the dirt by clicking here. In the meantime, here are your tips for bidding on ScoreLuxe.

Did you know you can actually get a pair of Tory Burch Reva flats for around $5.25? A new shopping auction site, ScoreLuxe has changed the name of the luxury auction game, and we’re hooked. Master the game and you can get a real $900 handbag for a few bucks.

Here’s how to start:

Just like being at a casino and buying your chips, buy a package of bids starting at $27.90. Each bid you make is worth $.99, and items start around $.50 or less. Unlike Ebay, you can’t raise the price manually–the price is raised 2 cents with each bid. As a special promotion for SheFinds and former competitior site, OohILove’s members, get 10% off with code OOHILOVE at ScoreLuxe.

1. Don’t bid early. There’s no point in bidding on something days or hours in advance. All the real bidding happens seconds before the auction ends. If you bid in the last 10 seconds, the timer goes back 30 seconds until someone gives up.

2. Bid on auctions that end at weird times while other people are busy, like dinnertime, or early in the morning.

3. Set up a ‘Bid Assistant’ through the site. It (literally) does your bidding for you. Set your maximum price to a non-round number, like $4.81. Others are likely to go for round numbers so you’ll have the advantage.

4. Spy on your fellow bidders. If you click on the photo of the product during the auction, you can see who is bidding and when to help you strategize your next bid. If you see one person is consistently bidding manually, you can hang back and let them bid for awhile. Try and predict what others will do by looking at their bidding history.

5. Follow ScoreLuxe on Twitter for discounts and get coupon codes.

“Just like being at a casino?” OK, I’m skeptical. Louboutins for 5 bucks? A Speedy bag for 10 bucks?

I wish I knew how thoroughly the editors here checked out the “auction” requirements. It would have been helpful if someone had actually participated in a few of the auctions and reported back on the results.

I did a few minutes of research on this site and there are a few people out there with less than favorable experiences. It seems to me that paying money upfront, with no guarantee of anything in return is a huge red flag. And the true cost of the item has to be covered somehow…so doesn’t it seem that the one person who “wins” the auctioned luxury item is basically having that item subsidized by all the other bidders? At this point I’m not sure I want to participate in something where odds are that I’m handing over money so someone else can enjoy a bargain at my expense!

If it sounds too good to be true…

  • hazek

It’s not really Loubs for $5,its 5+ $1 for every bid you had use to win it.It can REALLY add up, especially since the timer goes up 30seconds every time someone bids. Hard to win.

  • Jessica

Hey can’t believe you’re featuring oohilove on shefinds – It’s been my little secret for a couple months. I didn’t know whether the trust the site either because it seemed too good to be true, but I found facebook.com/oohilove and saw some videos and pics of others who won.

It takes some getting used to, but I’ve won a pair of Louboutins for about $40 and a black marc by marc jacobs hobo for about $50, which I loooovvvveeee. Yeah, you definitely need to pay for the bids ON TOP of the end price so that is misleading. I love the LV stuff, but think they should put up more Gucci tho. people please write to them and ASK FOR GUCCI! :)

So yeah do the math… If a bag is a bid of $18.00 and you have to pay $1 for every two cents then they bank big! Thats $900 right there but it sounds like its only $18.00 because thats the “price” you see… Very hard to win. Wasted $30 on it and you get nothing in return. I wish I thought of it!!!

I was bidding on the 100 bid pack .. worth $100 in free bids.

There was an automated bid that HAD to be a bot and not a real bidder! I bid a few times .. then just sat back and watched to see how it would turn out, as I had a feeling the automated bid was not a real bidder.

The automated bid kept bidding and bidding .. eventually winning the auction .. after spending over $120 for a $100 bid pack. NO ONE is that incredibly stupid! Someone needs to turn these people in.

Although some people may actually win a bid occasionally .. overall this place seems to be a total ripoff!!

Oohilove is just another penny auction site
PennyAuctionWatch.com says a lot of them are scams so be careful but it looks like people there have gotten items.

OOHILOVE.COM IS A SCAM AND ANY REVIEWS OR COMMENT POSTED ON ALL WEBSITES ARE ONE OF THE 9 EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPANY. BBB HAS RELEASED A STATEMENT REGARDING THE ACTIONS AGAINST THEM VIA THEIR LAWYER Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP.

  • Linda

can you say scam….the winner is the last man (woman) standing, if you run out of bids or give up on the item you just paid for the thrill. if you win, you just might have pay 3 times the price on the pretty purse. I would like a refund, please…..lol
keep your money, save up and buy it.

  • Thea

whoa!! I’m all over this – thanks for the tip!

  • veronica

I would not recommend this site, you could spend hundreds of dollars spend hours only to end up with nothing. It is made to sound easy, but in reality time starts over after every bid. Each bid costs you $1.00 bid assistant bids every 5 seconds. So after 4 hours and $150.00 I won nothing. In reviewing winning bidders it appears to be the same person using bid assitant. On one item they wuld have had to spend $5000 this is more than the LV retail price. This was only one person not anyone else that placed a bid.

  • lola

If you have to use a site like this (which looks like a big scam) to buy things you can’t afford anyway, why not just be happy to live within your means? That’s the problem with America and that’s why we’re in a recession. Also, it’s pretty uncool for what looks like a legit website (SheFinds) to endorse crap like this.

  • Abi

The thing is, products are AUTHENTIC and they are giving us the chance to buy them at very low prices… i found this AWESOME.

  • Ashley

oohilove is NOT fake… i can say that because when i got my first LV handbag, which was NOT fake..i was so happy and told all of my frnzz about it..now most of my frnz are on oohilove and winning.. SO GREAT SITE…. KEEP IT UP OOHILOVE

  • sigmon

BEWARE OOHILOVE after I had “won” an item at a very fair price they had me jump through many hoops and I still have not received it. They had me FAX my driver’s license several times (sensitive info covered) and although the item has been paid for by VISA, I can’t get them to tell me how I should pay for shipping costs. They have it listed as waiting for shipping approval. They said they did not have my address which was listed TWICE on the address page and on my driver”s license. I would not go through this hassle which has lasted for days and numerous calls and emails for any bargain. I get a different person on the “support team” each time I email and have never been able to speak to anyone by phone. You can only leave youR number. Not worth it. If not resolved soon BBB and VISA fraud dept.
    EWARE OOHILOVE

  • Mary

People are winning authentic designer items for prices that are way INSANE! and those who are not winning are criticizing the site for being fake….u can review the blog http://myfashionjuice.com/2010/05/17/mfj-reviews-ooh-i-love/ and u’ll definitely find out the real oohilove

  • Sarah

The site never claimed to source the products at the bargain prices they sell for; on OohILove, shoppers have to pay for bids, which means the site gets paid even if you don’t win. A rep from OohILove confirms the company buys all of their items from designer boutiques, department stores, or stores that are authorized resellers.

  • Megan

Oohilove is a new exciting online auction, where fashionistas can access newly released luxury designer accessories at a fraction of retail cost. Since these hand-selected handbags and accessories are highly sought after, they are rarely discounted in today’s market. They provide members with a fun and unique opportunity to save up to 90% off retail……Who can give you more than that…but people who gave so bad comments are actually do not deserve these handbags or these type of sites to play on… you people go buy the real deal from the brands showroom for real price…IDIOTS ….WE ARE WITH YOU OOHILOVE

  • Alexa

It’s pure gambling – thru & thru – it’s just like Vegas baby – if you can’t hang with the big boys – then go back home to your mommmy!

I tried OohILove–and I didn’t like it. (Granted, I did not follow the gambling strategies suggested….)

When you gamble for an item and lose (as I did), you realize that you have helped finance the high bidder’s win. Your $50 (plus money thrown away by all other bidders in that particular auction) essentially belong to the winning bidder. An image comes to mind: pyramid.

For in this auction, you fork over money for each bid–not merely for a winning bid. The slight of hand is that you are playing with “chips” not with real money. You are sucked into a casino gamblng mentality. And we all know the house is the real winner.

The outrageous claims that you have won a designer whatever for $2.51 are a ruse. You have exchanged real dollars for chips worth “cents.” That is how the fantastic claims are able to sell the website to the gullible.

The choice of items at any one time is limited. Massively greater choice and more preferable items flood the web. (Many at significant discount or sale–even on designers’ sites.)

For the money you might spend trying to win one of these auctions, you could own something you REALLY want. By going the OohILove route, it’s quite easy to be lured into the action and end up with something OK. (If you ever win an auction.)

And read the fine print! Ooh tells you in big letters that the money you threw away will enable you to buy items in the loser “trunk show.” What you should know is that junk is in the trunks. And you cannot spend your “losings” on one item.

Rather, you may take a generous $5 of your losings off the purchase price of a consolation prize. Add up all the money you have lost buying Ooh casino chips and any other money you spent to purchase something from the Trunk Show (if you are inclined to go the distance to “recoup” your losings). Feeling “had?”

Better to walk in your purchased Gucci loafers than to throw money away on a pair of Oohs’ Laboutins you will probably never own.
