Seen At The Oscars: Lilac, Ruffles, Pleats And Bedhead

The dresses at last night’s Academy Awards were refreshing. It seems like Hollywood’s A-list took our red carpet advice, and here are the top five trends from the Oscars, along with items that will help you achieve their looks now.

1. Ruffles

Ruffles were a big trend on the red carpet, and Zoe Saldana and Demi Moore show that ruffles come in all shapes and sizes. This BCBG Max Azria ruffled mock two piece halter dress ($248.00) isn’t nearly as dramatic, but works in the real world.

2. Pleated Fabric

Kristen Stewart and Penelope Cruz look stunning in their dresses with heavy pleating details. This Carmen Marc Valvo Taffeta Cocktail Dress ($314.99) is a less overwhelming version that you can wear more often than a long gown.

3. Lilac

Queen Latifah and Charlize Theron both look great in this lilac color. This J.Crew Jersey promenade gown ($118.00)  makes it perfect for looking sophisticated.

4. Flyaways

Two fashion favorites, Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker, got the flyaway memo, and made it work. Jennifer Lopez’s hair stylist Robert Vetica strategically pulled out pieces of Lopez’s hair to frame her face, then he sprayed the up-do with a strong hold hairspray like this Bed Head Maxxed-Out Massive Hold Spray ($14.95).

5. Coral Lipstick

Bright lips in shades of pink and coral were big on the red carpet and this M·A·C ‘Spring Color Forecast’ Lipstick Colour Me Coral ($14) is a good way to get a head start on the trend.

We loved the Oscar dresses. So many of the actresses looked gorgeous in their gowns. See our favourite here: http://www.realstylenetwork.com/index.php/2010/03/oscars-fashion-red-carpet-fashion-winners/

My favorite part of Oscar night is watching the stars strut down the red carpet. This year the gowns really made a statement-most of them were at least as dramatic as the movies the stars were featured in. Here are some red-carpet looks inspired by the movies themselves:

I am really enjoying the theme/design of your website. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility problems? A couple of my blog visitors have complained about my blog not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Firefox. Do you have any tips to help fix this problem?
