This Wednesday, one of our favorite designers, Cynthia Rowley (remember those amazing printed Band-Aids!?) will be launching a collection of “flora and animated-shape” wrapping paper for flash sale site One Kings Lane. Not only did sweet Cynthia share a sneak peek of the paper with us, but she also gave up her own tips for beautiful gift-wrapping, what she wants for Christmas, her best holiay party ever, and much more.
SHEfinds: What is your favorite part of the holidays?
Cynthia Rowley: Our company holiday parties are always fun. Last year we all went to trapeze school. This year we have another fun surprise!
SF: You’re a good gift-wrapper. Any tips?
CR: The key is to have all your supplies at the ready. Wrapping paper can be almost anything — get creative and use cut pieces of fabric, old book pages, left over wallpaper, bandanas, scarves, pillow cases. I also collect little trinkets while I’m traveling to tie on top of gifts -pretty tin ornaments from Mexico, silk tassels from Morocco, or little hand made dolls from Peru.
SF: What do you want for Christmas this year?
CR: I like my kids’ homemade gifts. Not only is the gift something to treasure, but the wrapping also. It’s usually a wad of paper with an entire roll of tape.
SF: What do your daughters want?
CR: They each make a list for Santa; last year Zoo Zoo pets topped the list. They must be growing up, because this year they want fancy luggage and lots of goodies to put in it.
SF: What were the inspirations for the wrapping paper patterns?
CR: The wrapping paper is inspired from prints from our runway collection. Here is a sneak peek:
