The Netflix Model Takes A Glitzy Turn With Jetworthy, A Jewelry Rental Site
October 31, 2012
Until now, Rent the Runway, a site where ladies can rent designer dresses and accessories for 90% off retail, has enjoyed a monopoly on the champagne taste /beer budget set. But Jetworthy, a new designer rental site allows the same type of customer to simply pay a monthly fee and rent as many pieces of jewelry as her heart desires. For $35 a month, she can rent pieces worth up to $300; $45, up to $450; $55 up to $1,100. After a price plan has been chosen, the customer then sets up a queue of pieces she’d like to rent. Once the first piece has been chosen, it is sent, and once that piece is returned the next in line is sent, and so on. The site’s catalog of designers is small but well-edited, and it includes some of today’s biggest names in contemporary jewelry design such as Lulu Frost, Erickson Beamon, and Mawi. The bottom line? If you’re a jewelry fiend on a budget, but have a penchant for wearing pieces just once, this site is your jam.
