The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

If you’re a jacket person like me, deciding what kind of jacket to carry every day is a bit of guessing game. The weather may say 70, but is that a hot and humid 70 or a cool a breezy one? Even when it’s blazing hot, there’s always AC to consider and the unexpected threat of summer rain.

Luckily, I did the dirty work of breaking down the perfect jacket for every temp this season. From comfortably cool weather to hot as hell, here’s your summer jacket guide:

70: 70 is nice, but can still be a bit cool so we say go with a trench coat. You can wear a short sleeve shirt underneath and still be comfortable.

Editor’s pick: Burberry Cotton-twill trench coat ($1,495)

75: At this temp, it’s starting to feel like true summer so it only makes sense to bust out the denim jacket. It’s got some weight to it should you need to warm up, but you won’t sweat to death wearing it outside.

Editor’s pick: J. Crew Nolita denim jacket ($89.60, down from $128)

Raining: Sure, you could wear a raincoat, but what happens when it stops raining at 1pm? You don’t want to carry that thing around. So instead, we suggest a lightweight, packable anorak for rainy days this summer. They’ll keep your dry, but you can also toss them in your bag without too much bulk when the rain stops.

Editor’s pick: Milly Metallic hooded taffeta anorak ($276.50, down from $395)

80: Your probably don’t even need a jacket at this point, but if you’re like me and just can’t leave home without one go with a blazer. You can throw it on if the AC is blasting in your office, but easily carry it over your arm when you’re walking home.

Editor’s pick: McQ Alexander McQueen Wool-twill bustle jacket ($1,010)

Hot as Hell: Here in NYC, when the temp goes much higher than 80, it’s usually obscenely hot and humid. So when that happens, the only thing you’ll need is a vest. It’s an extra layer of warmth should you need it in AC, but it won’t really make you any hotter when you’re outside.

Editor’s pick: Moto Vintage Sleeveless Jacket ($70)

Now that you know what you need to carry, shop our fave blazers, anoraks, vests and more in the slideshow.
